Jul 10, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Canfor says its sawmill in Mackenzie, British Columbia will be operating again before the end of July, ForestTalk reports.
The sawmill has been down for almost one full year.
When it restarts, it will be the first mill to begin operating in Mackenzie, which has seen all of its major forest manufacturing plants shut down in the past two years, some of them permanently.
The Canfor mill is slated to begin the actual startup on July 20, and eventually the company hopes to run the operation on two shifts. The mill will begin operating with a little less than 70 employees. The sawmill will start up first, and lumber will be dried in kilns before the planer begins operating two weeks later.
