Jun 03, 2008. /Lesprom.com/. Clariana, the Spanish producer of woodfree uncoated paper and coloured paper, has decided to decommission one of the two paper machines at its site near Valencia, Euwid pulp and paper reported. The company reports that this measure has become necessary due to the losses which it had to record in the course of the past few business years.
In May Clariana reached an agreement with the trade unions involved on the planned measure which will cut its current production capacity by 50%. The PM 1, which will be decommissioned, offers a capacity of around 25,000 tpy of woodfree uncoated paper. Clariana reports that it plans to concentrate on the production of coloured paper in the future, an area in which the company numbers among the Spanish market leaders.
