Pacific Albus®, a hardwood species, is ideal for a variety of uses including moulding and millwork, cut stock, furniture applications, pallet stock, recreational vehicle parts, landscape timbers, and much more. It is also certified under the principles and criteria of the Forest Stewardship Council’s Plantation Standards, company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network.
“Collins’ Pacific Albus is a newly introduced western hardwood and is a good alternative to many traditional, industrial, hardwood applications — a good substitute for Alder, Aspen, and Basswood,” stated Lee Jimerson, Manager Manufacturing Accounts.
He continued, “when it is treated and stained Pacific Albus is also a great substitution for a number of western softwood species — including pine, white fir, and even sound-tightknot cedar.”
This exciting new product is a result of Collins Companies’ new Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified wood products venture with GreenWood Tree Farms (GWTF) and GreenWood Resources (GWR). Collins has built a state-of-the-art sawmill, named Collins Upper Columbia Mill, and is manufacturing and marketing the mill’s products. GreenWood will manage the 35,000-acre FSC-certified plantation.
