Croatian Spacva net profit down 38.5% in January-September 2005

Croatian wood processing and furniture maker Spacva decreased its net profit by 38.5% year-on-year to HRK 5.4 million ($872 000) in the first nine months of 2005, company said. Revenue stood at HRK 132.2 million ($21.36 million), up by 6.2% and expenditure rose by 9.6% to HRK 126.8 million ($20.48 million). Domestic sales stood at HRK 39.4 million ($6.36 million) while sales abroad reached HRK 90.7 million ($14.65 million). Spacva posted a loss of HRK 1.8 million ($291 000) for the third quarter of 2005, versus a profit of HRK 2.3 million ($372 000) for the same period of 2004. Exports account for 70% of the company's output.
The company has an annual capacity to process 60 000 cubic meters of timber, as well as 11 000 cubic meters of timber for veneer production. It produces parquet, veneer and wooden doors.
Spacva, established in 1956, employs 832. Local company Cvor is majority shareholder with a 77.5% stake in Spacva, followed by Croatian Privatisation Fund with a 15.2% stake. The rest of the shares are owned by small shareholders.
