On September 23, Russian Minister for Industry and Trade Viktor Khristenko signed a decree to include a further timber processing project of DalLesProm into top priority investment projects list, as the company’s representative Lolla Paile informed Lesprom Network. The project entails construction of the following units in Amursk (Khabarovsk region, Russia): -peeled veneer production with a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters annually. The start of the construction is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2009, the end – for the Q1 2011, commissioning of the enterprise – for the last quarter of 2011; -dry sawnwood production with a capacity of 230,000 cubic meters annually. Construction is scheduled for Q4 2009 – Q3 2011, commissioning – for Q4 2011; -MDF-producing mill with a capacity of 300,000 cubic meters annually, construction is scheduled for Q2 2010 – Q2 2012, commissioning – for Q4 2012; -wood chips production with a capacity of 750,000 cubic meters annually (located in Vanino community of Khabarovsk region), construction is scheduled for Q2 2010 – Q1 2011, commissioning – for Q4 2011. The top priority status of DalLesProm project will allow the company obtaining forest sites on a long-term lease without auctions and lease payment rebates. Total investments into the project will amount to over 12 billion roubles ($405.3 million).The project investors are shareholders of DalLesProm OJSC group. Two ways of financing are envisaged, using shareholders’ funds or attracting external loaned funds. About 960 new jobs will be created once the processing complex is commissioned.
