Aug 22, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. With the new Formwood line Dieffenbacher offers a complete system for the production of molded pallets and pallet blocks made from wood particles. A cooperation contract to this effect has been concluded with Werzalit, a company based in Oberstenfeld, Germany. This cooperation contract foresees that Werzalit will provide the process engineering expertise for manufacturing the pallets and pallet blocks while Dieffenbacher will supply the complete plant system. The Dieffenbacher FORMWOOD plant system incorporates the areas of chip preparation, spreading, loading station, hydraulic presses and stacking station as well as the necessary press molds. So far, Dieffenbacher only used to supply the presses for this complete system. Now new opportunities are opening up for marketing an entire production system. It is also an advantage that some machine components can be manufactured directly by Dieffenbacher's subsidiaries. In future, therefore, the mold technology will be provided by Karle + Jung is Durmersheim, Germany, and the dryers from Schenkmann-Piel-Engineering in Leverkusen, Germany. In addition to the presses, the loading technology will also be covered by the company's in-house expertise. The principal growth markets for this area are in South America, the Middle East and China. For some time now, only packaging wood that is reliably free from pesticides has been allowed to be introduced into international trade channels. This means solid wood has to be chemically or thermally treated. Werzalit-Pallets, on the other hand, do not require this because all pests are reliably killed by the pressure and heat involved in the manufacturing process. Furthermore, Werzalit-Pallets can be manufactured economically and predominantly recycled wood or shavings from sawmills can be used. More and more manufacturers in the wood industry therefore see an opportunity to process the shavings or wood wasters and earn money from the resulting products, rather than to have to go to the considerable expense of disposing of them. An investment in a pallet production system that can process these shavings therefore appears to be a very good idea. At present, Dieffenbacher has received several inquiries for complete production systems of this kind. This product range is allocated in the forming division of the company where the presses are currently being designed and built as well. This will further strengthen this division and make it more and more become an important column in the company’s structure.
