Sep 29, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. Egypt’s ETAP Paper & Carton will revamp PM 2 at its mill in Alexandria during the first week of November. Papcel has been chosen as supplier, company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. PM 2 will get a new driving system, a new electric motor and new gear boxes. Papcel will modify the unit’s press section by supplying new top felts and by modifying the wire section, adding a new pick-up roll in order to eliminate breaks and increase work safety. The new driving system will raise the machine’s maximum speed from the current 200 m/min to 450 m/min. The new top felts will increase the dryness after the press part. Together with the pick-up roll, these changes will boost the unit’s capacity from 30,800 tonnes/yr to 57,000 tonnes/yr, according to Hanus Majer, manager of the international business department at Papcel. On top of this, the mill will also revamp its stock preparation system. Papcel will supply a complete knot for a coarse screening system together with necessary instrumentation. Furthermore, a low density cleaner for approach flow will also be installed at the mill.
