Europartner specialists will visit Russian Ilim Pulp enterprise located in Siberia to provide expert evaluation of the enterprises’ readiness to FSC certification and in accordance with the new Forestry Code bill, Ilim Pulp spokesperson told Lesprom.ru. During two weeks the experts will check 24 timber enterprises in Irkutsk regions and afterwards report on their readiness for FSC certification or announce their recommendations that are called at removing the existing faults affecting the certification. The enterprises will be given a time limit to remove all the faults. The certification will be provided by a special accredited agency. Precertification evaluation will be finished by late August and in early autumn the enterprise will provide audit checks. The certification will allow Ilim Pulp to become Russia’s first vertically integrate company in 2005 that has provided voluntary timber certification allowing to start pulp and paper and timber-processing products certification.
