May 06, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. Trade union Pro is threatening to launch another two-week industrial action, which would target Stora Enso and Metsäliitto from 19 May onwards, as Finnish Forest Industries Federation (FFIF) said in a press release received by Lesprom Network.
This time Pro complied with the law and submitted a notification of industrial action 14 days in advance, unlike it had done in the case of its earlier, unlawful industrial actions, which did not observe the 14-day notification requirement.
“Pro is maintaining its policy of threatening. If the union actually wants to reach an agreement, this is no way to promote that aim,” says Jari Forss, Deputy Director General of the FFIF.
“We remain prepared to offer a 2.5% pay rise, just like we agreed to with the paper industry's other personnel groups earlier this spring. We are likewise open to cooperation in the development of company-specific pay systems.”
“Threats of striking and other industrial actions weaken possibilities for maintaining jobs for Finnish salaried employees. If the dispute with salaried paper industry employees continues, we will be forced to reconsider the countries in which support functions are located,” Forss points out.
