Mar 17, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. FSC announced the establishment of the independent FSC Policy and Standards Committee (PSC). The FSC Board of Directors has established the Policy and Standards Committee in order to streamline, facilitate and accelerate decision making processes in relation to the development of new and revision of existing FSC Policies, Standards, Procedures and other normative FSC documents.
This development comes as a result of the FSC Governance Review process, which among other issues, concluded that the FSC Board of Directors should take an increasingly strategic role. The PSC acts on behalf of the FSC Board of Directors with respect to all matters related to the development, execution and decision making on all FSC Policies, Standards, Procedures and other normative documents.
The PSC was developed through a Call for Members in June 2009, and a successful application process through 31 July 2009. The FSC sub-chamber balanced independent Policy and Standards Committee consists of FSC members and replaces the previous Policy and Standards Committee consisting of FSC Board of Director Members.
The Committee consists of the following members: Paula Guimaraes, Economic North (Portugal), Peter Gardiner, Economic South (South Africa), Grant Rosoman, Environmental North (New Zealand), Lincoln Quevedo, Environmental South (Bolivia), Karen Steer, Social North (USA), Nancy Vallejo, Social South (Columbia).
