Jun 19, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Fraser Papers Inc. announced it has taken nine days of maintenance downtime at its pulp mill in Edmundston, New Brunswick starting June 17, 2006. During the shutdown, the company will make necessary repairs to a recovery boiler which were identified during the scheduled maintenance shutdown taken in May. In addition, the company will shut down one paper machine for seven days and another for three days at its adjacent paper mill in Madawaska, Maine, primarily due to the shortage of pulp available from Edmundston.
The company estimates that all shutdowns taken during the quarter in Edmundston and Madawaska will negatively impact second quarter results by approximately $6 million.
