The Board of Executive Directors of BASF SE, Ludwigshafen, has appointed Dr. Ehrenfried (Fred) Baumgartner (56) as head of its new Paper Chemicals division with effect from April 1, 2009, the company said in a statement received by Lesprom Network. Stefano Pigozzi (45), who is currently responsible for the department Glues & Impregnating Resins Europe, is to succeed Baumgartner as head of BASF’s Inorganics division. Fred Baumgartner joined BASF in 1986. After holding a number of positions in plastics research and plastics marketing, also in Singapore and Korea, Baumgartner was appointed head of BASF’s Engineering Plastics division. He assumed responsibility for the Styrenics division in 2001 before becoming head of the Inorganics division in 2006. Stefano Pigozzi joined BASF’s Finance division in Ludwigshafen in 1987. Subsequently he held a number of functions in marketing and sales for plastics in Germany, the United States and Italy.
