Aug 20, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. In the future the German Pellets Group will be processing all of its transport logistics for palletised goods through the Internet logistics platform Transporeon, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.
As of 1 September the subsidiary FireStixx will also be managing its logistics processes via the web-based platform. The parent company and its subsidiary German Horse Pellets began using Transporeon for their materials management as early as one year ago.
“Thanks to the co-operation, we have been able to optimise our internal logistics processes in this freight segment significantly,” reported Falk Petereit, head of logistics at German Pellets.
This year, the group will be shipping up to 250,000 metric tons of palletised goods – wood pellets and animal bedding products. In these areas Transporeon offers support in the search for freight carriers and hauliers, as well as in freight-rate negotiation, time-slot management, shipment tracking and billing. To accomplish this, Transporeon connects industry and trading companies with carriers. A web-based logistics platform serves as the interface.
“Both sides – the shippers and the carriers – profit from the use of Transporeon for the transport-assignment process. Scheduling processes are even more efficient, which is an advantage for shippers and carriers alike,” said German Pellets logistics boss Falk Petereit.
German Pellets Group is Europe’s largest wood manufacturer.
