It has bought the new business, which is based at Upper Heyford in England, for an undisclosed sum. The move comes following a pledge by Howarth Timber Engineering to distribute Boise engineered wood products. In June, the company stated it had been forced to change suppliers as its previous provider iLevel had left the UK market.
Commenting on the acquisition, the managing director of the group Roger Smith remarked: "We announced our commitment to the Boise brand in June and this planned acquisition underlines our determination to develop this sector of our business."
Howard Timber Engineering is the biggest privately-owned timber firm in Britain.
