Sep 21, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. In first half 2006 money turnover of Latvian Byko-Lat totalled LVL 11.9 million ($21.7 million), up 11% year-on-year. Profit rose by 16% to LVL 487 000 ($890 000), Byko-Lat chairwoman of the board Agnija Dzelme said.
She attributed turnover growth to increase of trade volume of windows, wooden bearing-wall houses and glued lumber with high value added. “Correspondingly, profit is higher than from lumber”, Dzelme said.
In 2006 Byko-Lat expects turnover to increase by 10% to LVL 23.1 million ($42.2 million), but Dzelme declined to forecast. “We can see lumber market price increase, but the side effect or cause of this tendency is reduction of lumber offer, which may affect accessibility and value of our raw material. That’s why it’s difficult to forecast profit performances”, she said.
This year the company has invested LVL 622 000 ($1.1 million) in development, in particular, in industrial premises enlargement and new equipment purchase.
The most part of Byko-Lat production is exported to Iceland, the UK, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, the USA, Spain, Japan and Australia. In 2005 income from sales on Latvian market totalled 10.6% of total sales volume. Turnover rose by 34% to LVL 21.0 million 9$38.4 million), profit declined by 6.6% to LVL 569 100 ($1.0 million). Company’s founder is Icelandic Norvik.
