May 17, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. International Paper has been named ‘Investor of the year’ at annual meeting of St. Petersburg division of American Chamber of commerce. In Leningrad region International Paper owns OAO Svetogorsk, one of the leading Russian pulp-and-paper companies. International Paper investments in Svetogorsk development, reconstruction and modernization in 2005 totalled more than $100 million. According to St.-Petersburg governor Valentina Matvienko, members of American Chamber of commerce realize largest investment programmes not only in St.-Petersburg, but in Northern-Western region of Russia as a whole. In 2005 investments of American companies in North-West amounted to $4.5 billion.
