Japan was China’s main sawnwood importer in 1Q 2006

Chinese exports of sawnwood reached 201 400 cubic meters in the first quarter 2006, shipped to the markets of Japan (90 700 cubic meters), Australia (21 700 cubic meters), Republic of Korea (19 100 cubic meters) and Taiwan P.O.C. (10 100 cubic meters). Plywood exports totaled 1.29 million cubic meters, up 24% from the same period in 2005. The main plywood markets are the USA (395 700 cubic meters, 30.8%), Japan (120 800 cubic meters, 9.4%), UK (63 200 cubic meters, 4.9%) and Taiwan P.O.C. (56 600 cubic meters, 4.4%).
