Feb 10, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Jujo thermal Ltd in Kauttua, Finland has implemented Metso Automation's new DNAforesight break analysis system supplied by Metso Automation. The 12-camera system captures real time and recorded break event images on its 2.5 meter wide paper machine and off machine coater (OMC). The line produces thermally sensitive printing papers.
By using the break replay and analysis capabilities of the system, the origins of sheet breaks on the paper machine and the coater have been isolated and reduced. Breaks at the OMC’s air float dryer have been reduced significantly. The operators also use the system to warn of fiber buildup problems on the trim squirts that might cause breaks. The coater operators use the camera images to assess the quality of the flying splice. Maintenance of the timing mechanism can then be scheduled at the right intervals
A new system feature, called multi-zone event tracking (MET), analyzes multiple, operator set zones on each camera’s field of view. Camera synchronization, which allows the users to accurately determine the origins of breaks, is reported to be excellent.
