Latvia's largest wood-processing company Latvijas Finieris reported profit of LVL 5.2 million ($9.6 million) in 2006, up 2.8% year-on-year on a turnover of LVL 112.7 million ($209.8 million), up 10.3% year-on-year. "The increase in turnover was achieved thanks to a rise in the average price of our products, improved structure of plywood products and entering new markets," said Latvijas Finieris representative Jolanta Medne. Last year Latvijas Finieris made 223 000 cubic meters of glued products, up 0.4% year-on-year. The company exported 75% of its 2006 output, mostly to Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Sweden, Spain and Italy. Latvijas Finieris closed 2005 with profit of LVL 5.1 million ($9.5 million) on a turnover of LVL 102.2 million ($190.4 million). Latvijas Finieris was established in 1992 on the basis of three plywood plants. Its shareholders are several individuals.
