Jan 16, 2009. /Lesprom.com/. Mid South Lumber of Meridian, Mississippi, will shut down indefinitely, leaving 100 workers without jobs, Lesprom Network informed according to the Associated Press. Company president Russ York says the layoffs are due to the downturn in the economy. He says there's no demand for lumber. Mr. York says the shutdown will take place within the next few weeks, and the company hopes to open again in early spring.
