Mondi Syktyvkar Timber Processing Plant OJSC (located in the Republic of Komi, comprises a part of Mondi Group) restarted hydrosulfite groundwood bleaching, general production engineer of the company, Viktor Semenov, reported. Instead of an old one, the company installed a new hydrosulfite cooking plant which almost excludes any contact between workers and chemicals, he noticed. ‘New equipment and using hydrosulfite in bleaching enables to reduce considerably production costs while manufacturing ground wood for standard newsprint at BM-15 department’, Viktor Semenov reported, ‘Expensive chemicals are excluded from bleaching, they used to have adverse effect on positioning system operation and paper machinery lining. Now engineers of high output semi-finished products and BM-15 departments as well as processing service are performing process alignment, and fine collaboration and teamwork of production departments and the service allows achieving results needed’. Mondi Syktyvkar Timber Processing Plant OJSC comprises a part of Mondi Group which specializes in paper and packaging production. According to the company’s estimations, its production occupies more than 40% of Russian and CIS office and offset paper market. The company also produces newsprint and top-liner and craft-liner cardboard for liner production.
