May 10, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Paper Excellence Group acquired the Chetwynd pulp mill in northeastern British Columbia and announced its intention to reopen the mill, which has been shut down since September 2012, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

In early March 2014, Paper Excellence Group acquired the Chetwynd pulp mill from Tembec Inc., making this its seventh mill in Canada and its fourth pulp mill in British Columbia.

The company’s objective to reopen Chetwynd will create significant direct and indirect benefits for the local community. Paper Excellence plans to invest up to $50 million, including working capital and capital expenditure, toward the restart.

Paper Excellence Group, which operates out of its Richmond headquarters, has grown through logical acquisitions from a single mill-base to a multinational group producing 2.5 million tonnes of paper and pulp with over 2,800 employees in Canada and Europe in the last few years.
