Jan 31, 2008. /Lesprom Network/. Rock-Tenn Company is to take over Southern Container, one of the largest US-producers of corrugated board packaging, for $851million in cash, informed EUWID. Rock-Tenn expects the takeover to be finalized as early as in late March. Southern Container runs the Solvay paper mill, located near Syracuse/New York, which has a capacity of around 720 thousand tpy and produces recycled packaging paper. In addition, Southern Container operates eight integrated corrugated box plants, two sheet plants and four printing houses. These sites generated accumulated sales of $538 million in the past business year. Rock-Tenn provides superior paperboard and marketing and packaging solutions.
