Jan 14, 2009. /Lesprom.com/. Following negotiations with the trade unions, Rottneros Mill – which produces paper pulp – has decided to reduce from 6-shift to 5-shift production from April 1, 2009. A slowdown in global demand for pulp requires production to be adjusted to the market, which is why the company is implementing this change, Rottneros said in a statement received by Lesprom Network.
As a result, around ten people have been given notice of termination of employment.“Naturally it is very unfortunate that we are being forced to remove a shift and that a number of our employees are affected. I can only state, however, that like the rest of the pulp industry we have to adapt to a slowing market,” says Olle Dahlin, Managing Director of Rottneros Bruk AB.
Rottneros Mill employs around 135 people in total and produces mechanical pulp. The Group also manufactures pulp fibre-based food packaging at the mill.
