4. Russian Arkhangelsky timber enterprise reported exports reached 115,8%, or $541,5 million in 2003 compared with the prior period in 2002. Timber-procession goods top the export rates: sawn timber - 35%, pulp - 34,1%, paper, cardboard and related goods - 25,2% of the total statistical cost of timber-paper production, regional administration public-affairs reported.

Veneer exports increased and reached 115% compared with the prior period in 2002. The policy applied by Arkhangelsk region administration to provide raw timber to local enterprises allowed to reduce 40% the exports of raw timber in 2003.
During 1998-2003 round timber exports from Arkhangelsk region declined 4,4%, which allowed to process 1 million cub m of local raw timber. Therefore exports value added increased to $25 million. Tax payments were 102,9%, or RUR 1,281,1 billion compared with the prior period in 2002.
