KHABAROVSK, JANUARY 31, 2002 /from RIA Novosti correspondent Yevgeny Bugayenko/ -- The situation with woods restoration and reproduction of mineral resource reserves in the Khabarovsk Territory (Russia's Far East) is catastrophic. This was disclosed Thursday by head of the natural resource department of the Far Eastern federal district Andrei Lushchei. The documents, which he submitted to journalists in Khabarovsk, read that as a result of intensive logging and fires, which destructed enormous taiga areas, 6.4 million hectares of land need woods restoration.
