Oct 22, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Södra’s interior products company, Gapro, has made its largest acquisition to date through the purchase of BE Profiler and Vima in Denmark with combined annual revenues of SEK 460 million ($67.5 million). The two companies are mouldings producers with operations near Århus on Jutland, Denmark, Södra said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. BE Profiler had a gross turnover last year of SEK 375 million ($55 million) and Vima SEK 85 million ($12.5 million). Gapro will take over the two businesses retroactively from 1 October, with the 120 employees being transferred to Gapro’s Danish operations. BE Profiler is Denmark’s leading producer of mouldings and specialises in the Danish building merchant market. “It’s a perfect fit for us to have BE Profiler in the Södra group as there are good synergies with our Swedish and Norwegian businesses,” said Håkan Svensson, Gapro President. The other acquired company, Vima, sells primarily to the timber industry. “We have just strengthened our sales force in Norway and Sweden in this area, so the Vima acquisition gives us full coverage of the Scandinavian market for this customer group,” said Håkan Svensson. “Our hope is that customers in Denmark will see the advantages of the broad product range Gapro offers, which currently includes mouldings, panelling, flooring and glued joints,” commented Håkan Svensson. The products are all produced within the Gapro group at its plants in Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Gapro already has a flooring factory in Sunds on Jutland and the three Danish units will cooperate closely. The President of Gapro in Denmark will be Gapro Norway’s current president, Kjetil Högbakken, and vice president will be Gapro Denmark’s current President Thomas Toftgaard. With BE Profiler and Vima, Gapro estimates that its revenue in 2010 will increase to SEK 1.2 billion with over 500 employees. Including the Danish acquisitions, Gapro has a total of 17 production and distribution facilities in Scandinavia. The Gapro group had sales last year of SEK 870 million and currently has 375 employees.
