Jun 03, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. In conjunction with its participation at Elmia Wood 3-6 June, Södra has launched its new double certification. With immediate effect, members can advise their interest in certifying their forestry in accordance with both the leading FSC and PEFC certification systems, the company reported. Many Södra members have previously taken an active stand on sustainable forestry through PEFC certification. Due to the increasing popularity of FSC-labelled products, Södra has also decided to offer FSC certification. "This strengthens members' opportunities for selling their wood while also meeting market demands," said Urban Eriksson, director of forestry at Södra. Double-certified members will receive an SEK 20 premium per cubic metre fub for pulpwood logs delivered from 1 July 2009. Södra Skog and Södra Cell have now received a traceability certificate for FSC, which is a key step in being able to offer customers FSC-certified products.
