SCA's FY 2016 net sales increased by 2% compared with the same period a year ago, to SEK 117,314 million ($13 billion), as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

Adjusted operating profit rose 7% to SEK 13,989 million ($1.5 billion). Higher volumes, a better price/mix, cost savings, lower raw material and energy costs, and acquisition contributed to the earnings growth.

Adjusted profit for FY 2016 decreased by 5% to SEK 8,295 million ($932 million). Profit for the period decreased by 19% to SEK 6,012 million ($675 million), compared to SEK 7,452 million ($837 million) in 2015.

Magnus Groth, CEO and President of SCA, said: “Organic sales for the full year 2016 increased by 2% and were affected by a somewhat challenging market situation for hygiene products and capacity reductions. Adjusted operating profit, excluding currency translation effects, acquisitions and divestments, increased by 8%, and the adjusted operating margin increased by 0.6 percentage points to 11.9%. The adjusted return on capital employed increased by 0.5 percentage points to 12.5%.”

4Q 2016 net sales increased by 6% to SEK 30,897 million, compared to SEK 29,040 million in 4Q 2015. 4Q 2016 adjusted operating profit rose 7% to SEK 3,685 million. Adjusted profit for the period rose 3% to SEK 2,203 million. Profit for the period decreased by 46% to SEK 1,583 million, compared to SEK 2,907 million in 4Q 2015.
