Oct 23, 2012. /Lesprom Network/. Sequana has signed up to the UN Global Compact along with Arjowiggins and Antalis, the Group’s production and distribution businesses. This move underscores the Group’s commitment to shaping a long-term CSR policy that embraces the key values of respect for others as well as ethical and environmental concerns, as Sequana said in the press release received by Lesprom Network. Launched in 2000 by the UN Secretary-General, the Global Compact has 8,700 corporate participants worldwide who, in signing the Compact, agree to respect and promote its ten universally accepted principles in the areas of human rights, labour, the environment and anti-corruption. By signing up to the Global Compact, Sequana, Arjowiggins and Antalis intend to advance these principles within their own spheres of influence and make them an essential part of their strategy, action plans and operations. To ensure transparency, the Group also commits to publishing a record of its progress each year. Participation in the Global Compact represents a further step in the Group’s efforts to build a more sustainable, inclusive and transparent global economy. Commenting on this development, Pascal Lebard, CEO of Sequana, said “As an international player through our distribution and production businesses, our Group will promote responsible production and consumption practices. We are proud to have signed up to the UN Global Compact and are sure that it will be a major factor in helping us to consolidate our actions in all countries where we do business”. Sequana is a global player in the paper industry with a presence over 5 continents in more than 44 countries, the company operates in the distribution (representing two thirds of its sales) and production of papers.
