Jul 12, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. In Finland, the employees of Stora Enso's Veitsiluoto sawmill agreed to a pay cut when the sawmill restarted operations in the spring of 2006, Esmerk reported. The sawmill has transferred to paying a monthly wage that cuts earnings by about 5%. In addition, the new wage model reduces the amount of overtime compensation. According to the employees, the wage cut was a condition for the restart of the sawmill. According to the company, the present system is based on a new, more flexible wage system.
