LLC plans to take downtime at all of its manufacturing facilities during November, and the company warned that there would likely be more to follow in the coming months. The Glendale and Roseburg, Oregon, USA, sawmills will be down the weeks of November 14 and 21, as Random Lengths reported.
The company attributed the shutdowns to a combination of severely depressed product prices and high log costs.
"It's times like this when we are impacted most severely by the inability of our area's largest landowner, the federal government, to provide a meaningful supply of timber," company President Steve Swanson said. "Instead we are forced to rely almost exclusively on private timber supply, which subjects us to global economic factors which we have no ability to control."
