Swedish A&R Carton sells Primepac business for unknown sum

Packaging materials producer A&R Carton Lund AB, part of Sweden-based sector group A&R Carton AB singed on June 10, 2005 an agreement to sell the business of manufacturing and selling its carton products Primepac to Primepac's current general manager Paul Nixon and UK-based printer and carton manufacturer Fine Colour Packaging Ltd.
No financial details were disclosed. The transaction is scheduled to be finalised in the beginning of July 2005, and the production machinery will be moved to the UK in the summer of 2005. All current businesses, enquiries and orders, will not be affected by the management buy-out.
Primepac has established a strong position within its specialty segments, yet its turnover is too low, A&R Group said in a statement.
A&R and the new Primepac owners will cooperate, as A&R will continue to sell Primepac products in Europe via its sales organisation.
A&R Carton has 15 plants in Europe. It employs some 1,800 and has an annual turnover of some Euro 300 million ($386.8 million).
