Apr 19, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. The Swedish wood-based materials producer Swedspan signed a contract with Siempelkamp for a complete dryer system including an integrated energy plant. With the help of this turn-key plant, the customer - a company of the multinational furniture retailer IKEA – wants to increase its annual output of particleboard to 600,000 cubic metres, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. Swedspan has been producing particleboard for the furniture and building industries in the Swedish town of Hultsfred, located in the historical province of Småland, since 1972. The existing production line including a press that was extended by Siempelkamp in 2009 is now to be equipped with a Büttner particle dryer and an SES energy system. The single path drum dryer type 4.6 x 24 R is equipped with a flash-tube pre-dryer, a drop box as well as a connection to the customer's air cleaning equipment. This enables Swedspan to achieve a material throughput of up to 20 t (22 US tons) bone-dry per hour for the plant. The dryer is heated by means of a grate-fired energy system with an output of 36.8 MW. Next to the hot-gas supply for the new dryer, SES's scope of supply also includes a thermal oil generator as well as a steam and hot water generator. The scope of supply for this order includes the complete engineering, the core components including the control system, the complete steel construction as well as thermal insulation, the finished installed brick lining, the electrical wiring, the transport and assembly. In 2009 Siempelkamp modified the belt tracking rolls of the Swedspan plant to hydraulic adjustment. Last year two new star coolers were integrated into the existing plant without having detailed information for the existing machines available. With the performed service assignments, the press extension as well as the new dryer and the comprehensive energy system, Siempelkamp supports the customer in achieving its targeted production output.
