Feb 04, 2008. /Lesprom Network/. TAPPI Members have elected three individuals to join its Board of Directors for the 2008-2009 term. They are: Tom Garland, Executive Vice President Rock-Tenn Company, Vince Newberry, Manager, Technology Exploration Appleton and Nicki Slusser, Converting Operations Manager International Paper, informed TAPPI. The new members to the Board of Directors will officially take office in March, 2008. Thomas Garland is a 20-year veteran in the paper and packaging industry. In his current post at Rock-Tenn Company, Garland is responsible for the operations of all of Rock-Tenn’s coated and uncoated recycled mills, SBS and bleached market pulp mill, chip mill, corrugated medium mill, book board mill, and laminated product operations. Vince Newberry joined Appleton Papers in 1994. A TAPPI member for more than 20 years, Vince Newberry has been an active member of the Coating and Graphic Arts Division. Nicki Slusser has direct responsibility for all manufacturing at IP’s Sumter, S.C. sheet plant; the Franklin, Va. sheet plant; and the Converting Innovations Center, also in Franklin. In addition, she has responsibility for coordination and operation of the mill converting facilities.
