Speaking to the Baltic Times, Kaspars Herhards, the country's minister of transport, explained that although rail freight volumes have been falling in Europe, Latvijas Dzelzcels has bucked the trend.
He said: "Latvijas Dzelzcels is an exception – last year the volumes of freight increased and this year until now these volumes are being maintained."
