Apr 01, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Timber firm Hawkins-Salmon, a subsidiary of building materials group Ensor Holdings, is going into administration, as Contract Journal informed Lesprom Network. "Due to further deterioration in the market for timber and fencing products, the directors of Hawkins-Salmon decided the best course of action is to place the company into administration," said a statement from Ensor. Paul Stanley and Jason Greenhalgh of Begbies Traynor have been appointed as joint administrators, reports Crain's Manchester Business. Manchester-based Ensor’s other subsidiaries will continue to trade as normal. Hawkins-Salmon was recently relocated from Northamptonshire to Manchester and this, “combined with management difficulties and the current economic climate, led to a significant loss”, Ensor said. The timber firm was the group’s only unprofitable company but its losses had “turned the group result from a respectable profit into a small loss”. Ensors results for the year ending March 31, 2009, excluding Hawkins-Salmon, are expected to be “satisfactory” considering the current difficult economic climate, the statement said.
