Jul 05, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Tullis Russell, the Scottish independent papermaker, has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Chain of Custody Certification for the processing, sales and distribution of FSC endorsed coated and uncoated paper and board.
The certification allows Tullis Russell to label products which have been manufactured using FSC pulps, and gives customers the assurance that these products have been produced from material originating from responsibly managed FSC certified forests.
FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the world’s forests. To gain FSC certification, a forest must be managed in a manner which is beneficial to the environment and the society as well as economically viable. The FSC system also tracks the wood fibre though the supply chain, from forest to end user, ensuring end users that they are not contributing to the destruction of the environment.
To achieve the certification, Tullis Russell was independently audited by BM TRADA Certification Ltd which will continue to carry out annual audits to ensure that the highest standards are maintained.
