U.S. boxboard production increased by 3% in June
Jul 20, 2010. U.S. boxboard production in June increased by 3% compared to June 2009, but 2.0% from last month. Year-to-date production was up 4.1% over 2009.
Jul 20, 2010. /Lesprom Network/. U.S. boxboard production in June increased by 3% compared to June 2009, but 2.0% from last month. Year-to-date production was up 4.1% over 2009, the American Forest & Paper Association said in a statement received by Lesprom Network.
Unbleached kraft folding production fell 2.2% when compared to the same month last year, and 3.7% from May 2010. However, the production of year-to-date 2010 climbed 1.7% compared to last year.
Solid bleached folding production was down 5.1% over June 2009, and 4.4% compared to May 2010. For year-to-date, production rose 1.6% over 2009.
Total solid bleached packaging operated at 94.7% of capacity in June 2010, up 1.6 points from last month, and 5.3 points from June 2009.
The production of recycled folding showed an increase of 0.8% over last year, but down 2.4% from last month. Production of year-to-date increased by 4.2% compared to 2009. Total recycled paperboard operated at 91.2% of capacity, 0.6 points higher than last month, and 6.1points compared to June 2009.
The current solid bleached kraft paperboard inventories rose to 289.5 thousand tons, 2.8% or 7,859 tons higher than last month.
