Through April this year, U.S. lumber production totaled 8.152 billion board feet, up 2.9% compared to the first four months of 2009, according to the Western Wood Products Association. Production in the West was up 11.8% through four months; the South was off 4.8% during the same period. Nationwide, April production totaled 2.252 billion feet, up 2.5% from a year ago.
