U.S. total printing-writing paper shipments in January 2013 were down 3% from January 2012, as the American Forest & Paper Association said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. January shipments of coated free sheet (CFS) papers increased in 5% compared to January 2012, the third year-over-year increase in the past four months. Uncoated free sheet (UFS) papers shipments of 766,300 tons in January were 3% below the same period last year. Uncoated mechanical (UM) paper shipments decreased 10% when compared to January 2012. Shipments of coated mechanical (CM) decreased 9% compared to January 2012 to 255,900 tons.
