According to Vasili Chreovi annual timber export volumes are on the rise in spite of the fact that forest reserves are deminishing. In 2005 UAH 44 million ()$8.747 million) worth of timber were exported from Ukraine, while in 2004 a total of UAH 102 million ($20.3 million) were exported from Ukraine. In 2001 timber exports accounted for 20% of timber sales, while currently this figure is 80%.
According to Vasili Chernovi precious species of timber are also exported: in 2003 662 cub m of oak were exported, in 2004 – 5180 cub m of oak were exported. Only 20 timber enterprises of 100 are state-owned.
