May 10, 2011. /Lesprom Network/. Following a breakdown in labour discussions between Tembec representatives and the union representatives at the company's high-yield pulp mill located in Matane, Quebec, unionized employees did not report to work this morning and went out on strike. Consequently, all production activities have been suspended indefinitely, as the company said in a press release received by Lesprom Network. The Company is monitoring the situation very closely and is putting into place measures that will ensure uninterrupted supply to its customers. The plant in Matane employs 143 people, of which 99 are unionized, and ships to customers in North America, Europe and Asia. The Matane mill has an annual production of 250,000 tonnes of hardwood high-yield pulp.
