Nov 30, 2005. /Lesprom Network/. Armenian president Robert Kocheryan has signed the Armenian Forestry Code, the president's press service said. The document differentiates between forests of special environmental significance, protective forests and logging areas. The Code, while preserving state monopoly over Armenian forests, allows communities, legal entities and individuals to establish private ownership of forests. The document envisions certification of forests and sets a procedure for forest management and utilization, including privately-owned ones.
