India's Ballarpur Industries Ltd. will raise prices of uncoated paper by 2% or 800 rupees ($18.7) a tonne from September 1 to offset input cost push and on firm demand, Reuters reported. The firm will also increase prices of the coated variety, used in premium magazines, photographs and packaging, by 3% or 1,500 rupees ($35) a tonne from August 15, said Anil Pahwa, chief general manager. With the latest revision, prices of coated paper would be around 49,500 rupees ($1156) a tonne, he said "Globally prices have been firm plus domestically demand is very strong. Pulp prices having gone up, there's cost pressure as well," Pahwa said.
