Canadian lumber output jumped sharply from August to September, putting the total through three quarters at 18.6 billion board feet (bbf), 1% ahead of the year-earlier pace. In September, mills produced 2.1 bbf, 9% more than the previous month and 6% more than the same month a year earlier, Random Lengths reports. 

Quebec gained 21% from August to 464 million board feet, although the total of 3.9 bbf through September was just 1% ahead of a year earlier.

Alberta gained 13% from August to match last year's running total of 2.7 bbf through September.

Year-to-date output in British Columbia reached 9.6 bbf, 1% behind the 2013 pace, after 1.1 bbf of production in September.
