Croatian Spacva makes takeover bid for Exportdrvo

Mar 03, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Croatian wood processing company Spacva has offered to buy the majority stake in local sector company Exportdrvo at the price of 470 Croatian kuna ($77.15) per share, Spacva's board member Drago Veselcic said on February 28, 2006, Business Hrvatska reported.
Spacva, which already owns a 29.5% stake in Exportdrvo in the capital Zagreb, offered small shareholders a price 17.5% higher than the share nominal value, Veselcic added. Through the acquisition Spacva will strengthen its position in the hardwood segment, especially on the foreign markets, Veselcic said.
The company exports 80% of its annual output of parquet, veneer and wooden doors. It has a capacity to process 60,000 cubic meter of timber a year with a workforce of over 1,000 employees.
Spacva was acquired by local construction company Cvor two years ago. In 2005 the owner invested some Euro 5.0 million ($6.01 million) in modernisation and enlargement and plans to invest Euro 4.0 million ($4.8 million) in 2006, envisaging a revenue of 220 million kuna ($36.1 million).
