Feb 12, 2009. /Lesprom Network/. Horizon Pulp & Paper said that it has restarted its Kehra mill in Estonia (Baltic region) bringing some 400 employees back to work. The mill, which produces kraft paper, shutdown in late-December due to lack of orders. “Unexpected drop in global demand forced us to close temporarily the packaging paper production in late-December, but for Horizon we see some clear signs of recovery in the markets,” said Sunil Marwah, Horizon's CEO. According to Marwah, despite the challenging market conditions, the company managed to generate new orders for the coming months and remains hopeful to continue production throughout the year. The Kehra mill operates three paper machines and has the capacity to produce up to 64 thousand tons of kraft paper, including semi and fully extensible sack kraft, wrapping kraft and some speciality grades.
