Komatsu Forest launches four new harvesters

Oct 30, 2014. /Lesprom Network/. Komatsu Forest is launching four brand new harvesters. The four new harvesters are the Komatsu 901, which is a thinning specialist, the Komatsu 911, which is an all-round harvester, the Komatsu 931, for demanding final logging, and the Komatsu 951, which is quite simply the largest and most powerful harvester in the lineup, as the company said in the press release received by Lesprom Network.

"Not only is this our most extensive harvester launch ever, it's also the dawning of a brand new era," says Tobias Ettemo, Product Manager at Komatsu Forest.

Four new harvesters that include everything from completely new designs, a new cab with a damping option, and an eco-friendly Stage IV engine through a keyless system and a new media hub to a completely new hydraulic system with dual hydraulic circuits the like of which the market has never seen. The result is high production capacity and low fuel consumption per processed timber volume.

"We've focused on the operator and made every effort to maximize production from every possible angle in a sustainable manner," Ettemo explains.

Much focus has been placed on operator ergonomics. The new harvesters build on the well-proven concept of a centrally-placed crane and cab and a swing axle that together with the cab's tilt cylinders offers unique stability and operator comfort.

All the harvesters have parallel cranes with high net lifting power that are fast, effective, and easy to operate. Between the crane and the head is the brake link, Komatsu Multi Disc Brake. All harvesters can be supplied with a choice of cranes with different reaches and a number of different heads.
