Oct 19, 2006. /Lesprom Network/. Lido concern has begun construction of wood-processing plant in Salaspils. According to company’s vice-president Vilnis Cirulis, investments will total LVL 9-10 million ($16-18 million). Taking into account concern’s annual turnover of LVL 20 million ($36 million), the amount is considerable. It’s planned to transfer in Salaspils plant producing furniture and accessories for Lido restaurants. On the other hand, production of building materials is a very perspective business taking into consideration boom in construction and lack of capacities. By the end of 2006 new plant may reach full capacity which is not disclosed. Management doesn’t exclude that the plant will produce not only semi-products but also prefabricated wooden houses. More than 100 jobs will be created. At the same time Lido will construct dwelling for company’s employees. Investments in the project which will be realized in 2007 will amount to LVL 3.5 million ($6.3 million).
